Joanne Dixon is a freelance consulting professional with over 15 years of experience in energy sector and infrastructure development. She has been working since 2005 as a Senior Consultant in Energy Project & Market Assessment, Institutional Restructuring, Transactions, and Capacity Building on multilateral and privately funded projects for energy sector institutions in developing countries.
In her 15-year career Joanne has demonstrated strong management capacity, analytical abilities, strategic focus, and communication skills with clients, partners, and colleagues in both English (native language) and Spanish (as a result of a 9-year residency in Spain), in complex, multi – work stream projects. In addition to her consulting work with AF Mercados EMI, Joanne also held the positions of Commercial Director for Asia and Transactions, and Deputy Director for Corporate Development with AF Mercados Energy Markets International (AF Mercados EMI) in Madrid, Spain. As Deputy Director of the Transactions Practice, she was the in-house coordinator for 30+ transactions opportunities.
Previously, Joanne coordinated and managed capacity building and needs assessment activities for energy sector reform in several countries in Latin America, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa for the Energy Group at the Institute of International Education in Washington DC. She also served two years in the Peace Corps in Senegal, where she specialized in small business development, and managed a USAID-funded rural community natural resource management training center.
Joanne holds a Master Degree in the Economic and Technical Management of the Electricity Sector from University of Comillas, Spain and a Bachelor of Arts, College of William and Mary, Virginia, USA.
