David Robinson consults on market design, competition, regulation, and corporate strategy in energy, telecommunications and other regulated network sectors. He advises clients in contract arbitration, competition investigations, economic damages litigation, regulatory proceedings and on matters of public policy. His most recent work focuses on the implications of de-carbonization for electricity sector market design and regulation.
He is currently a Senior Fellow of the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) and runs his own consulting company.
From 2008-2010, he opened and ran the Madrid office of The Brattle Group, and led Brattle’s international business practice. He previously spent eighteen years as a consultant with the international consulting firm, NERA, where he was a Director in the London office and then opened and was responsible for the firm’s offices in Spain and in Italy. At NERA, he was a Board Member as well as being Co-Chair for European Operations and for the Global Energy and Telecom Practices. Until 2009, he was a Member of the Board of Regents of the University of St. Louis (Madrid campus), where he taught business economics. He has been a consultant to the International Energy Agency.
David holds a PhD in Economics from the Oxford University, a Masters of Development Studies (Economic Policy and Planning) from the Institute of Social Studies in the Hague and a BA in Economics and Political Science from McGill University in Canada.
David is based in Madrid, Spain.
