The MRC Group, together with our partners ECCON Intl and EXERGIA, has been entrusted by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MENR) of Turkey to assist them in the development of the power and gas markets in the country. The project has been recently launched with the initial workshop in Turkey.
The assistance relates to the second MIPD (IPA Multi-annual Indicative Planning Document 2011-2013) objective “further alignment with and implementation of acquis on the internal gas and electricity market”. Within this framework, the consortium led by MRC will assist MENR in a series of studies on the harmonization of electricity and natural gas laws following the adoption of the EU Third Energy Package.
The consulting services that MRC will provide include activities to support legal, structural and administrative framework for properly functioning energy exchange operations; including alignment with Acquis by providing technical assistance on energy market development, improvement of spot and balancing power market activities, transparency, market surveillance and eligible customer operations; in terms of both structural and operative requirements on the internal electricity and gas markets.
The services MRC provides will also cover demand side participation and management and market coupling with the EU markets.
The project involves a wide range of stakeholders in the market, including EPIAS (energy market operator), EMRA (regulator), BOTAS (gas company), TEIAS (power transmission operator) as well as other market agents.
We are delighted to collaborate with the Turkish authorities in this crucial evolution of their energy markets, paving the way for better operations in the future electricity and natural gas sectors.
